LookBook 2 : Durga Puja MakeUp

Image
Sorry for the long absence. But if you’re from India, you’d know this is the festive season in Bengal, After Durga Puja, there are many more like Lakshmi puja & Diwali are to come. For us in Bengal, it’s the busiest moment, as we’re preparing for Kali Puja on 6 November this year. So I think this can be a perfectly valid excuse for a long disappearance. Anyways thank you all for sticking with me. Today’s blog post is not about the second installment on skin ageing, for I’m still working on it & trust me its taking real long. So till then I’ll keep you entertained with a fun post. Today I’m going to share how I did my make up on this Durga Puja, drawing inspiration from the Goddess Durga herself. So, yes this is officially another #lookbook. Anyone who’s ever experienced Durga Puja in Bengal knows such a huge deal it is for us, Bengalis. Women dress up their best & find this occasion the biggest excuse to don the most dramatic

All You Need To Know About Skin Ageing - Part I

Image
Okay, this is my first installment on skin ageing. Yes I’ve divided the whole topic in smaller installments for two main reasons: ·          One because the scope of this topic is seriously ‘larger than life’ & one article is way little to actually even touch the topic barely. If I had to write it all down about everything I knew about skin ageing & ways we can counteract the effect of this natural process, it’d take weeks to cover & in the mean time the blog will not be updated & you guys will mistake me as dead. ·          Secondly because it is not only about ageing, it is about what ageing is & how it progresses & what external factors do affect the rate at which it affects our skin & ways we can conquer it. So you see, it is indeed a multidimensional topic way beyond the scope of a single article. Let’s just begin this casually & see how far I can cover today in a single article & according to that I’ll add

My Makeup Product Empties, This Festive Season

Image
You know this is the season of Durga Puja in Bengal & its especially huge in Kolkata, so the city (& me too) is getting ready for the big festive bash. I’ve bought a lot of new makeup/dresses/jewelry to enrich my already burgeoning puja haul & at this time in the year, I throw the empty/expired or ‘products I don’t like anymore’ away. So, today I’ve thrown 3 of my ‘not interested anymore’/expired products away & I thought I’d share my experience with those, you know a short review type. Actually I wanted a welcome change from my usual heavily scientific & elaborate skincare posts, so I thought it couldn’t be better than this. Sharing my product empties is a fun post dedicated to this festive season & ofcourse, I’m super busy these days & really I can’t concentrate on an elaborate skincare article at this time. So here are the 3 product empties: Empty Product No. 1 So the first product I’ve thrown away is Loreal Paris

If You Read This, You'll Never Bleach Your Skin Again !!!!!

Bleaching: Most Popular Yet The Most Harmful Practice I’ve been planning to write an article on this topic for real long. There was a time I was so obsessed with such a topic that I prepared my MSc Biotechnology final project report based on the same. Well that too did well & it has a reason. I’m from a country that is obsessed with light skin, whatever the reason may be but people, mostly women have been obsessively putting corrosive materials on their skin in the hope of looking beautiful for so long, yes in my country, India beauty equates to light skin. These days even men are as much into bleaching as women. Unfortunately, most, almost 90% aren’t following a certain regimen advised by a qualified dermatologist, but doing whatever the local salon suggests them to with their little knowledge(?) for their business’ sake. This blind trust has already ruined much. These days I rarely see a person with a ‘normal healthy’ skin. Most hav

#Lookbook : The Maharani Look/ Traditional Indian Look

Image
Maharani Look A-Z Okay so this is my first lookbook on my blog. To be true, I’ve never been comfortable in creating one, perhaps because this is not the usual topic I deal with. If you’ve been reading my blog for some time, you’d know I’m more of a skincare person, dealing with the nuts & bolts of science behind skin treatments rather than flaunting my fashion sense of which I’m not exactly sure of. But anyway, when I decided to do this finally, let me tell you it was not an easy decision. So, I’d pick up a look I think I know much better than any other style; here it is the Traditional Indian Look or as I’d call it ‘The Maharani Look’ . ‘Maharani’ is the Hindi/Bengali word for Queen. With the word Maharani, the first thing that comes to your mind is a lady moving around with a lot of heavy jewelry & an extravagant saree or lehenga. It is true to a certain extent but it’s not all. A woman can look like a Maharani even without all that extravagance, armed wit
